Randie has been teaching at GEOS Victoria for just over 3 years. Before joining our team she spent 3 years in Asia where she realized that teaching ESL is rewarding and fulfilling career. Randie’s goal in the classroom is to develop a curiosity within her students so that they are constantly finding learning moments. She believes that learning can be fun and that people learn best when they are relaxed. She wants her students to enjoy the classroom and learn English through enjoyable reading, writing, speaking and listening activities. She strives to create a student-centered classroom, where she guides students into authentic language use.
This month, we have to say good bye to Emilie and welcome a new student services coordinator to our office! Her name is Caitlin.
Emilie has moved on to a wonderful job at the local university! Good luck and also congratulations!
We also welcome a new English teacher, Lois; and, our TESL teacher, Laura will finish with us the end of this session. She is moving to Vancouver!!! We will miss you, Laura.
The GEOS Victoria Business English elective will open on April 25th. This course is designed to prepare advanced students in Levels 5 and 6 to use English in their present or future work situation. Special focus is given to the development of key vocabulary, social language and practical functions within a business context. Students will be given plenty of opportunities to practice realistic tasks in class, and will be given the tools and skills they will need in common professional situations.
Students will learn how to give well organized, formal presentations, understand and respond appropriately to professional telephone calls, emails and letters and use appropriate language in social situations. Students also work to create a cover letter and resume suitable for local job/volunteer placement. Additionally, students will develop practical interview skills to prepare them for their own job search.

Currently we have 11 Nationalities represented in the school among our 173 students. We extend a warm welcome to all the students studying English with us!
I made the decision to study in GEOS Victoria because the people in my Agency told me that if I wanted to focus only on learning English was aI heard that Victoria city is the best city to study English in Canada because it is beautiful and people are really relaxed. I have been in Victoria for more than year, and this is such a cute city and you can go anywhere so easily.
I chose GEOS Victoria schools because lots of International students told me that it is really friendly and caring school in town. I studied at GEOS for 48 weeks, but they always encourage me and help me like their own family and helped me whenever I have a problem. I started from Level 2 ( Pre-Intermediate) and I completed Level 6 when I graduated.
I think I have learned a lot and now I can communicate with Canadian – no problem! :)
Thank you, GEOS for everything you have done for me! :) :)
